IGGE was indexed under the name Marmara Geographical Review from the beginning of its publication in 1996 until 2018. As of the July 2018 issue (Issue 38), the journal’s name was changed to the International Journal of Geography and Geography Education (IGGE).

The journal accepts articles in both Turkish and English and is a national peer-reviewed journal published three times a year, in January, May, and September.

The aim of IGGE is to contribute to the development of local and international geographical research and to make these studies accessible to readers through a freely available platform.
